In an effort to get the positive spin back in life, December is going to be a new leaf.  Technically its still fall so seems fitting.  Plus instead of an advent type calendar (never got into those), I want to count out 2011 & work toward being a better me in time to welcome 2012.

So Day One!

Each day I am going to pull a positive-ish word & use it as my focus for the day.  Just something to meditate one & remind me that life is a good thing.

Today the word is MAGNANIMOUS.

Actually it was one of the first words I heard when the radio went off.  So there was the word.

generous in forgiving an insult or injury; free from petty resentfulness or vindictiveness: to be magnanimous toward one’s enemies.

high-minded; noble: a just and magnanimous ruler.

proceeding from or revealing generosity or nobility of mind, character, etc.: a magnanimous gesture of forgiveness.

Which turns out is a VERY GOOD word to be thinking of while working in a spot that deals with people who are out of work during the holidays!  Still not sure why some people feel the need to insult those who are in positions where they can help.  We always get calls from people who feel we are supposed to immediately drop everything we are doing & find them a job.  More often than not these are also people who have little experience and expect to make a lot of money doing a lot of nothing.  We become punching bags at times over the phone.  The holidays have amped up this intensity.

So magnanimous.  Listen to the borderline abuse from strangers & kill ’em with kindness.  Let it go & do everything I can do to breath & not take any of it personally.  As one person said “what do you know about being unemployed during the holidays, you HAVE a job!”.  So let it go.  Try to forget.  Forgive & wish them well.

So new focus.  Good things.

Plus lets face it.  Life is just better with a positive spin.

Also feeling inspired by Silver Ravenwolf’s blog. Its time for her annual Great Release Challenge & I’m going to play along this year.  Day one down.  Ears cleaned & negativity away.

So new start.  Why not now?

Never know where it may lead.

But for now.. its leading to my head hitting a soft pillow.
